When I think of Peggy, what do I remember?
London, theatre, playing darts, the Arsenal, “it’s just round the corner, Regents Park, known as Peggy’s park/garden”, the women’s land army, “who needs a man”, meeting Peggy at Mullard House to then go and watch them play in the darts league, yoga - the original Green Godess, Flats in Wembley, Peggy doing the scoring for the cricket team, walking up to tourists in London who looked lost and confused and explaining where they needed to go, with a free piece of useful information about that particular area, explaining the tube map, “you just have to get on with it”, “wonderful” Roger Federer, taking me, Peter and Martin on holiday with Doreen, putting soap in my mouth when I was a kid when I swore!, sorry auntie, my godmother, going to see a show on New Years Eve with Val, the first computer game I ever played which was a Phillips console that had two lines which were the bats and the white dot going back and forth across the screen, Peggy looking out from her window in Hanson Street.
My last thoughts remain good ones, being with Peggy on Sunday, 2nd of March, chatting about various things, me telling Peggy she did need a man after all because I had to put the biscuits away for her which she promptly told me where to go. A very sad moment in time, but a life time of memories to enjoy and smile about. Thank you Peggy. x
